I am downloading the torrent of the Ubuntu distribution to my Pentium 4 machine, running the Windows XP operating system. I would like to install the operating system onto my ASUS eee Surf 700, using a USB key. The instructions that show up when I click on the “Download Installer” link seem to be meant for users who are running Linux (?) on their PC.
Are there / can you provide simple instructions for transferring Ubuntu to a usb key and then installing the os onto the ASUS eee from the USB key? Thanks.

I’m not sure I get your question. Are you asking if there’s a way to create a USB Installer from a Windows PC?
If this is your question, you can try this tool…

lol, In fact it seems that the xubuntu 8.10 gold version doesn’t exist! Actualluy developpers can’t include a compiled madwifi driver to the kernel (so you have to recompile it after each kernel upgrade), so the guy decided to not release à eeeXubuntu 8.10.
The page http://www.ubuntu-eee.com/index.php5?title=How_to_use_the_ubuntu-eee_script indicates how-to use the famous riceytweak scripto help you to autoconfigure your Xubuntu on your EeePC.
