MSI Wind ‘Rumored’ to increase price by $50

Written by Aldrin Cantos on August 6, 2008 – 8:48 am - 62 Views

If you’re the type who waits for price-cuts before buying an item, you’d probably not like buying MSI Wind anymore for it’s rumored to add $50 on their current prices.

According to ULPCS, MSI is unable to obtain more components to sustain production. Seems like they cannot avail cheap components they used to have before.

This is exactly what I thought to happen upon knowing that MSI Wind has the lowest price amongst netbooks. But the good thing is that MSI Wind will still have fair price compare to others.

MSI is really serious in the competition

Written by Aldrin Cantos on July 1, 2008 – 5:39 am - 271 Views

MSI mini desktop

After their success of summoning the MSI Wind, a better competitor of the Asus Eee PC, MSI has yet another promising child to take down the Eee PC Desktop.

MSI has introduced their MSI Wind Desktops at Computex last month. The rig will sport 1GB RAM, 160GB hard disk, DVD drive on board and WiFi and will come with Windows XP. The business version will come to Europe and Asia this month, but the consumer version will ship by September. The representative said that this will not be sold in US, but US based consumers can still avail through their online store.

MSI Wind competes EEE PC 901, 1000(H) release date in US

Written by Aldrin Cantos on June 28, 2008 – 1:20 am - 571 Views

eee pc 901 msi wind

Few hours ago, I posted that MSI Wind could be available in Amazon by today, but apparently we have to wait two weeks more before it comes real. (Still not confirmed).

According to the email posted at MSIWind Forum, MSI Wind will ship on the week of July 7th. Sounds like there’s still no exact date. On the other side, Asus has confirmed date of shipping for two models. [EEE PC 901, EEE PC 1000(H).

MSI has initially stated that the first batch that will ship will contain 3-cell batteries and that do not bring high interest to the customers. It would be better if they can also push back that initial statement so at least they could make up for pushing back the ship date twice. While this idea could be good, I don't think they can get their target number of customers that easy since EEE PC's are also out on the 8th. Yes, MSI stands out among other awaited ultra portables but EEE PC is still a big factor.

MSI Wind available in a few, battery is not encouraging

Written by Aldrin Cantos on June 27, 2008 – 7:22 am - 638 Views

MSI did not hit the original ship date but it will be out later. However, there’s some issues that customer might not want to hear. The MSI Wind will come out packed with 3-cell battery and no higher.

According to LaptopMag:

On June 27, the MSI Wind will be available from a slew of online retailers, including Amazon.com, Newegg.com, MWave.com, Buy.com, and Zipzoom.com. However, Due to a battery shortage out of South Korea, the first batch of Winds will blow out with a 3-cell rather than a 6-cell battery for the reduced price of $479.99. Our review unit was bundled with a 6-cell battery and had an MSRP of $499.99.

A quick poll at the source’s site tells that customers are still interested to buy the MSI Wind but not until higher capacity batteries come out.

A quick glance at Amazon and it’s confirmed it’s really not out yet. In a few hours, maybe.
